Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association Kuala Lumpur and Selangor

The Lighthouse Children Welfare Home is located in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur and currently houses 63 children ranging from the ages of 6 to 21.  The children largely come from problematic backgrounds involving alcoholic or drug addict parents, poverty stricken or single parents who are unable to care for their children, and in some extreme cases, from abusive environments. 

The Home is a society registered with the Registrar of Societies and prides itself on having adopted a family, rather than an institutional concept and a significant effort is put into bringing together siblings who have been separated in the past into this home as a family. All the children of school-going age attend school and tertiary institutions of higher learning .  The Home is run entirely on donations and we would be grateful for your kind contributions.

In particular, the Home truly appreciates  regular donations which getting scarce during the COVID -19 MCO.  It costs the Home  RM15,000 a year  to house, clothe, feed and educate EACH child in a safe and secure environment

In March and May 2019, our Founder. Mr. Freddy Lim together with a team of 80 Volunteers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, China, Ireland, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia visited the Home to interact and mingle with the children at the Home with various activities and games.

All the children go to school, they make use of a van and two cars that were donated to the home to send and pick up the kids from school... Several of the older ones are attending tertiary education...

22 year old Joshua is in final year studying Mechanical Engineering at Taylors

21 year old Rachel is at UNISEL doing a degree in TESL

23 year old Joseph is studying music at ICOM

22 year Rebecca is at Julia Gabriel

18 year old Mishalini is training to be a tennis coach and has completed Level 1 of the tennis coaching course and is already giving tennis lessons

Another of the older ones want to be enrolled in early childhood education course

It is great to see the opportunity given to these children from the most disadvantaged back ground by Lighthouse to get an opportunity to have a better life... As you can imagine it would take a huge budget to operate Lighthouse.

Unfortunately several of the main donors have left the country and the recent situation made it worse when the food rescue NGO are no longer in operation, they urgently need new donors...

2019 and 2018 audited budget is available with the caretakers Mr & Mrs Steven, the home need annually to raise some RM850,000 to meet all their expenses...
